III. Items of Business:
a. 2024 LEPC Exercise: The 2024 LEPC Exercise Committee held their last planning meeting on March 28, 2024, to finalize the exercise. This year’s exercise will be a tabletop and is set for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Minford Fire Department located at 8484 SR 335 in Minford. The following objectives will be evaluated: Incident Assessment, Incident Command, Response Personnel Safety, and Emergency Public Information. Players include Minford and Jefferson FDs, Minford EMS, Ohio and Scioto EMA, the Red Cross, EPA, Health Department, ODOT, Gateway Group, Law Enforcement (SC Sheriff and OSP), and Minford Local schools. All members of the LEPC are invited to come and help out with the exercise.
b. Region 7 Homeland Security Full-Scale Exercise: On October 3rd and 4th Law Enforcement and others from Region 7 will be taking part in an active shooter exercise at Shawnee State University. We are looking for people or groups to play victims as part of the exercise. We tentatively may need around 90 victims. Please let Scioto EMA know if you can help out. A Tabletop exercise will take place at SSU on May 29, as a precursor to the full-scale exercises in October.
c. Disaster Planning Committee: With all the severe weather that Ohio has experienced so far this year, Scioto EMA would like to form a Disaster Planning Committee. The committee would develop contingency plans for addressing such things as debris management, temporary housing or sheltering, damage assessment, reunification, and other tasks. It is hoped that this committee will transition into the committee that will work on updating the All-Hazardous Mitigation Plan that is due to be updated by next year. Anyone willing to volunteer please let the Scioto EMA know.
IV. Updates
The meeting concluded with a roundtable of various agencies updating the group on the latest activities at their agencies.
V. Adjournment
